Wastewater Treatment: Chemicals, Cosmetics, Textiles
The manufacture of specialty chemicals, cosmetics, textiles, leather goods, etc. generates a variety of very difficult to treat wastes. Membrane technology, when correctly applied, can provide the most economical and reliable solution to many of these wastewater treatment needs. Some of these applications include:
Cosmetics Blending and Packaging Rinsewater
Membrane technology is ideal for the variable composition of cosmetics processing wastewater, producing consistent, high quality effluent with minimal operating labor and without the use of chemicals. UF membrane can be used in tubular and hollow fiber configurations to remove all suspended materials and to provide BOD and COD reduction.
Tannery Baths
Membrane technology can be used to concentrate the chromium and salts from the tannery operation for reuse. This not only cost-effectively solves disposal problems, it reduces manufacturing costs for a more profitable waste operation.
Textile Production and Dyeing Wastes
Textile production and dying processes consume vast quantities of water. Membrane technology effectively removes the dye and size molecules from the wastewater. The treated water can then be recycled into the process reducing the overall water consumption of the facility and ensuring a constant water quality for the process.
Latex White Water
Membrane technology provides a cost effective solution for concentrating latex white water up to 15% solids. This can then be recovered from a waste stream and the treated water can be reused.
Wood Preservative Wastewater
Chromium from wood preservatives must be removed from the wastewater before it can safely be disposed. Membrane technology effectively removes chromium, leaving water that exceeds regulations.
Flexographic Ink Wash Water
Ultrafiltration membranes provide the preferred treatment for press wash waters containing pigments and heavy metals. UF permeate is recovered for recycle.
