KMS membranes can help meet tough discharge regulations
The New York City Watershed is using ultrafiltration to polish tertiary treated effluent prior to releasing it back into the environment. | Local regulations requiring advanced treatment of municipal effluent to remove harmful microorganisms before discharge are becoming more common. Consistently meeting these stringent regulations is difficult and can be costly with conventional chemical based treatment.
Ultrafiltration has been shown to be a reliable and cost effective method for advanced treatment of municipal effluent that provides a high quality and consistent filtrate. It is also a cost effective, compact and automated effluent treatment method that requires minimal operator attention.
More and more, communities are selecting ultrafiltration for advanced treatment of municipal effluent to meet local discharge regulations.
Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) Improve Effluent Quality Submerged hollow fiber modules are an important advancement in the technology of wastewater treatment. When used in an MBR, membrane modules are submerged in the activated sludge to combine the biological step and solid-liquid separation into a single process. The hollow fibers act as a barrier to bacteria and suspended solids to produce low turbidity water with very low bacteria counts. PURON® modules were specially developed to meet the extremely tough requirements of a municipal wastewater MBR. They are robust, require only simple pre-screening, and use a unique aeration design to reduce energy costs.
