KMS Ultrafiltration Membranes For Pharmaceutical Applications

In pharmaceutical applications, KMS hollow-fiber membranes are an attractive alternative to conventional
chemical treatment and physical water filtration.

Purified water is defined as water obtained by a suitable process that is prepared from water complying
with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency National Primary Drinking Water Regulations or comparable regulations in the European Union or Japan. RO can be one component of a "suitable process" for
production of USF Purified Water. Pretreatment for RO can be conventional chemical treatment and
physical filtration followed, in some cases, by ion exchange and water softening. Hollow-fiber UF
membranes can be attractive alternative to conventional chemical treatment and physical filtration for
pretreatment to RO.
